Finish Sheens:
Three different finish sheens are available for wood floors: satin, semi gloss and high gloss. Each sheen has a different level of shine and luster, which will impact the final apperance of your floor. Satin offers the least shine, and will reflect the least light. Semi-gloss offers some shine and will reflect some light. High-gloss offers the most shine, and will reflect the most light. Note: Satin finish is the most common finish for residential floors.

Poly-Urethane surface finishes are durable, water-resistant and require minimal maintenance.

• Water-based finishes appear clear and will resist turning amber over time. They have a mild odor when applied, and are fast drying.

• Oil-based finishes appear rich and amber in color. They have a moderate odor when applied, and are slow drying.

Wood Flooring Finish Methods:

• Job-Site finished floors are sanded, stained and finished in your home. They are completely custom allowing for your individual choice of stain and finish. However, beacuse they are being finished on-site, you will need to allow for the finish to dry, during which time you will not be able to walk on your floors.

• Factory finished floors are pre-finshed in the factory, long before the wood reaches your home. Many options are available but you will not be able to reach the same level of customization as you would with job-site finished floors. The major benefit of factory finished flooring is that you can walk on them as soon as they are installed.
